Job Summary:
- A physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing health care services under the general direction of a designated physician supervisor.
- The PA/NP will provide a means of expediting patient evaluation and care through the performance of pertinent medical history and physical examination, assessment of needs, and performance of appropriate treatment of Emergency Department patients.
- Perform history and physical examinations and assessments on new and return patients to the Emergency Department.
- Order appropriate: laboratory studies, radiological studies, EKG’s, and respiratory therapy/pulmonary function.
- Establish presumptive diagnoses and establish the initial treatment plan as appropriate.
- Order or prescribe medications as specified by written or practices protocol and/or as directed by the physician.
- When patient load dictates: obtain blood samples for diagnostic studies, initiate IV lines and/or administer medication, and perform urethral catheterization.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and wound care.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Skill/Education Requirements:
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
- Current Colorado PA/NP Certification/Licensure
- Successful completion of critical care course.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- PALS within six months of hire.
- CEN certification preferred.
- At least two years of experience in emergency nursing or
ICU preferred.
- ATLS within 6 months of hire.

- Monday - Friday
