Cook (First & Second Shift)(Full-Time) - Nutrition Services Department

Job Summary:
- Prepares and serves entrees, potatoes, vegetables, and soups for recipes as required by cycle or catering menus.
- Prepare and coordinate services for three meals per day to the Valley Wide Services RAC program in accordance with national and state dietary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
- Monitors meal count, methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning for all meals provided to the Valley Wide Services RAC program.
- Effective use of time management to have meals ready in a timely manner.
- Ability to slice, chop, mix, stir, pour, and fry.
- Operate meat slicer, food mixer, oven, steam kettle, blender and scales.
- Taste and smell prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
- Store leftovers and plan for use of leftover foods in accordance with sanitation regulations.
- Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steamtable transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
- Keep work area and equipment clean and sanitary.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Skills/Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- One year food service or related experience and/or training preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
