ER Patient Care Tech (Part-Time) - Emergency Department

Job Description
- Provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care;
- When holding a valid LPN License, will provide basic care to patients within the LPN scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs. Colorado - LPNs may perform IV therapy and venous blood withdrawal and administer "premixed antibiotic solutions via peripheral veins regulated by gravity flow or pump.
- Meets the communication needs of patient and family, provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards.
- Communicates with physicians and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
- Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
- Train as backup for ER Assistant
- Will provide one-on-one supervision of patients experiencing acute self-harm ideation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of
the patient and their clinical condition. (LPN)
- Performs patient care responsibilities, considering needs specific to the standard of care
for patient’s age.
- Assesses and reassesses pain management techniques utilized. Educates the patient
and family regarding pain management.
- Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers and physicians.
- Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach
to the patient’s needs.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services
requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Skills/Education
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Current BLS certification required
- MA, NA, or EMT Certification or be enrolled in a nursing program OR Current Colorado
Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure when applicable
