Security Guard (Full-Time)(Rotating Shifts) - Safety/Security

Job Summary:
- Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of the facility.
- Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
- Ensures that only authorized persons are admitted onto facility premises.
- Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to and from parking areas, if requested.
- Assists motorists who become stranded on facility property.
- Responds to all codes.
- Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by facility personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form, by the end of each shift.
- Writes accurate, clear and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
- Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.
- Patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities.
- Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.
- Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors and personnel.
- Monitors the facility using electronic security equipment (security cameras, et al.)
- Enforces all facility policies and procedures as assigned by Administration and the Environment of Care Director.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Performs all other responsibilities as directed or assigned.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He/she shall be able to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and promote a secure environment needed by the patient group.
- Must fulfill duties as assigned by the Security Manager and follow their directives set forth.
- Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
- Excellent attendance record
- Wears appropriate uniform and conforms to established dress code.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans, and personnel.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
- Actively participates in department performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Attends irregular and scheduled training and meetings.
- Wears identification while on duty.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.
- Establishes and maintains good communication between departments.
- Excels in verbal communication in diffusing volatile situations.
- Become efficient in self-defense techniques and tactics.
- Become certified in authorized intermediate non-lethal weapons.
- Cannot leave shift without being properly relieved. Two 15-minute breaks and a 30- minute lunch break are under legal guidelines, but the officer must be readily available for emergencies.

Skill/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Up to two years of experience in the field of Law Enforcement/Corrections and/or security management (Preferred).
- Must be 21 years of age (Required).
- No felony convictions of violent offenses or theft.
- Must be certified in CPR/BLS before probationary period is finished and then recertify biennially.
